Co-owner of Burns Brown Pressley and Rankin, freelance journalist
and political consultant.
September 2006 - November 2006:
Worked on the Jackson Public School Bond Referendum as press
secretary.
June 2006 - February 2006:
Hinds County Coordinator
for the reelection campaign of Congressman Bennie Thompson. I was
responsible for writing press releases, coordinating volunteers,
setting up Meet and Greets, organizing campaign activities and
managing the campaign office in Hinds County
(Jackson).
June 2005 -February 2006:
Assistant Community Coordinator at the Jackson Medical Mall
Foundation in the Public Relations department. I was responsible for
writing press releases, newsletters and bi monthly tenant updates. I
also organized and operated a “One-Stop-Shop” to assist Hurricane
Katrina victims. I also wrote a story about Hurricane Katrina for
the NAACP’s Crisis
magazine.
February 2005 – May 2005:
Press Secretary for former Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson. As press
secretary, I was responsible for writing press releases,
photography, talking to the media, organizing events, updating the
mayor’s activities schedule, writing commercial scripts for the
radio and door-to-door canvassing.
May 1996 – February 2005:
Associate Publisher/Editor/Reporter for The Mississippi Link
Newspaper (weekly). My duties included but were not limited to:
writing, editing, photography, managing budget, assigning stories,
updating website and preparing the paper for distribution. I also
wrote numerous articles for New Visions magazine in New York.
